47th APIMONDIA International Apicultural Congress

The 47th Apimondia Congress is held from 24th to 28th of August, in Istanbul, Turkey

Apimondia is the biggest beekeeping event in the world where beekeepers, scientists, honey-traders, development workers, technicians and legislators meet to listen, discuss and learn from each other. Scientific program includes topics such as aritherapy, bee biology, beekeeping economy, beekeeping for rural development, bee health, pollination and bee flora, and beeking technology and quality. The congress offers a great opportunity to exchange experiences in different aspects and to discuss about the latest developments in the beekeeping world.

As the theme of Istanbul Apimondia, Bees Unite The World, honey bees are clearly vital parts of our ecosystem, acting as highly efficient pollinators of our food crops as well as for wild flora. We need bees to keep our crops and earth healthy, but in recent years their numbers have been decreasing by the billions.

Many beekeepers, beekeeping suppliers, beekeeping equipment designers, honey suppliers from all over the world all came to attend the congress, it was a great success.

The 47th Apimondia Congress Award for the Best Honey in the WORLD was given to the thyme raw monofloral honey, by Dimitrios Hasapis, from Limnos Island - GREECE!
